Fee Structure

Transparent fees, no surprises. Here's exactly what fees apply to donations on SplitGive and who pays them.

Two Types of Fees

Every donation on SplitGive involves two separate fees:

Platform Fee

1.5%

Minimum $1.00 per donation

SplitGive's fee for operating the platform, processing splits, and maintaining the service.

Payment Processing

2.9% + $0.30

Standard Stripe card fee

Stripe's fee for securely processing the payment. This is standard across the payments industry.

Fee Example

Here's how fees work on a $100 donation:

Donor gives $100.00
Platform fee (1.5%) − $1.50
Stripe fee (2.9% + $0.30) − $3.20
Recipients receive (total) $95.30

The $95.30 is then split proportionally among all recipients based on their percentages.

Donors Can Cover the Fees

On every donation page, donors have the option to cover the fees. When a donor checks this option:

  • A small additional amount is added to their total charge
  • This covers both the platform fee and Stripe's processing fee
  • Recipients receive the full intended donation amount, with nothing lost to fees

With fees covered: intended $100 donation

Intended gift to recipients $100.00
Fees covered by donor + ~$4.92
Donor's total charge ~$104.92
Recipients receive (total) $100.00

This option is entirely the donor's choice — page creators cannot force it. However, many generous donors choose to cover fees to maximize the impact of their gift.

No Hidden Fees

  • No subscription fees — there's no monthly or annual charge to use SplitGive
  • No setup fees — creating pages and adding recipients is free
  • No withdrawal fees — recipients pay only standard Stripe payout fees, which are free for most bank accounts
  • Per-transaction only — fees only apply when a donation is made
